You're Not Paying for a Workout
With the rising cost of just about everything these days, it's natural to take a closer look at your monthly expenses. For many people, gym memberships end up on the optional expense list.
And honestly, I get it.
AI chatbots can shoot out a workout plan in seconds for free. You can pick up some gym equipment here and there or full send it with a home gym set up. You can start walking or jogging for free. There is a time and place for all of this to varying degrees.
When it comes to fitness, I tend to consider myself an agnostic. The thing that I think is most important is that you do something. Move that needle however you can.
That being said, as our world continues to “need” people less and less, the value of human connection and interaction is going to be essential and unfortunately something we will likely have to be very intentional about.
With so many more work from home jobs that mean you’re not actually communicating with other people in person in real time hardly ever. Jobs that are primarily computer based(SO MANY) and more and more automation coming rapid fire means we’re engaging in conversations less and less on a daily basis. Reading body language, expressing yourself in real time, listening and processing with others are seemingly obvious parts of being human. What happens when we do them less and less?
As AI grows and its use for all the things along with it, we can get all kinds of advice and “expertise” with a few clicks. Our lives can essentially be directed by a robot. In some ways, that’s hella cool. In other ways, we’re losing the thing that makes us most human. Our connections to each other.
So if you are finding yourself debating the cost of a gym membership, consider what you might be giving up that has nothing to do with a workout or equipment.
At Mac-Town Fitness Company, you're not paying for access to equipment. You're not paying for a workout.
You're investing in coaching, accountability, and a place that holds real people in real time living real, full, complicated lives. We’ve got workouts and great programs. But we’ve got even greater coaches and people.
Could you work out at home? Absolutely.
Could you join a lower-cost gym? Yep.
The difference:
When you walk through the doors at Mac-Town, you have coaches and fellow clients who know you. They know that your mom is sick, or that your kid didn’t sleep last night, or you’re worried about a project at work. The coaches know how to adjust the workout, make a plan on the fly if needed, or give you a push where you need one.
The time before and after the workout may be the only time you get into a real, genuine conversation with another person that day.
You have programming designed for you. A group workout is posted, and adjustments are made to fit where you’re at that day.
You have a community that notices when you're gone and celebrates when you're making progress.
A community that holds you accountable. And cares.
AI can't do that.
Your garage gym can't do that.
The true value of being in a fitness community isn't found in the workout itself.
It's found in the relationships that grow from it, the health that is acquired from it and the connection to yourself and others that grow.
It’s found in building it into your life in a sustainable way so it continues to give you the things that really matter.
The cost of fitness is easy to calculate.
The cost of losing the parts of it like community and conversation are harder to put a price tag on.
At Mac-Town, we're not selling workouts.
We’re selling the antidote to a life that’s becoming more and more reclusive. We’re selling coaching and health for a lifespan which includes your social health!
And that's something you can't find in an AI generated workout plan and a piece of equipment.
