Stronger Together: Why Community Matters More Than Ever

February is here and with it a tendency to focus on romantic relationships—but what I'd like to take note of and celebrate this month is the relationships that may get overlooked. We see them all the time developing at Mac-Town. The chatter at the back of the room before class, the gathering after the cool down. The ones that help us stay consistent, show up on hard days, and grow over time. Those are the relationships we're looking to cultivate here.
At Mac-Town, we’ve seen it firsthand: people don’t stick with fitness because of motivation alone. It's motivation sometimes and when it's not, you need your people.

We're highlighting a few of those people in the coming months that make Mac-Town special and honestly make it worth heading to the gym knowing they will be there.

We all know that working out often requires some level of self-negotiation: Maybe not every day, but certainly some day more than others. And I don't know about you, but I have these conversations more often in the cold winter months!
“Should I go today?”
“I’m tired.”
“What's the workout?”

We're big fans of recovery around here, but it's important to know if the fatigue is more motivation/depressive state/lack of movement related vs truly tired from a recovery standpoint. We can help you tell the difference. :-)
When you're struggling to get to the gym, what if we shifted just a bit to "Who do I get to see when I go there?"

We sometimes talk about Mac-Town being people's third place. It's not work and it's not home and for that one hour, you get to have space for you.

Community gets tossed around a lot, but it doesn’t mean you have to be outgoing or experienced.
It means to be in a space where:

So cultivate those relationships with people that give you a reason to show up. Tell them when you're struggling and why. Help each other to keep moving and celebrate the wins together! The truth is when we have those in person interactions, those conversations and yeah, me too acknowledgements, we find that we're not alone. And we can keep going with just a bit of support along the way!

This month, we’re celebrating exactly that: connection. Share your stories. If you’ve found your people here, invite someone who’s still looking for theirs.

We're doing Bring a Friend Week Feb. 9-14 and that's a perfect opportunity to share your third place with someone else.

Here's to the relationships that continue to help become the best versions of ourselves!
